I am a single 28 year old man. I am earning very good, I have bought my own flat, I have good investments. In short, I am financially secure. But I do not want to get married, ever. I have no interest in either girls or boys, or in any kind of physical relationships. But I love kids. I would like to adopt a child. But I am not sure how to proceed. Has anyone gone through this process personally, and can guide me?
TLDR; looking for adoption advice.

Yes, Indian law allows a single male or female to adopt a child. You can go through http://cara.nic.in/# website for detailed process.
The law of adoption in India is governed by three legislations (Acts) generally:
1. Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956.
2. Guardians and Wards Act, 1890.
3. Juvenile Justice Act of 2000.
There are some requirements that a single male has to fulfill before he can adopt a child under all these laws.
The main clauses are :
Any prospective adoptive parents, irrespective of his marital status and whether or not he has biological son or daughter, can adopt a child subject to following, namely:-
1. the consent of both the spouses for the adoption shall be required, in case of a married couple;
2. a single female can adopt a child of any gender;
3. a single male shall not be eligible to adopt a girl child;

It is great to know see that single people are becoming responsible enough to undertake such a responsibility of parenthood, while ignoring the nay-sayers.
However, you have to understand that adoption in India is a lengthy and detailed process. You should fulfill number of requirements, which are really stringent as a single parent.
You have to register yourself in CARA. Do not connect with individual agencies, CARA is centralized.
You will need to submit information about you, your family, your financials, job, medical records and may other things.
Once you are found eligible to adopt a child, you will be added to the waiting list of prospective parents. This process can take upto 2 years.
Even after the adoption is done, officials from the adoption center will visit you frequently and will regularly check the physical and mental well- being of the baby frequently.
Consult a lawyer if you are still unclear.
Wish you all the very best dear.
Kudos on taking this courageous decision dude!
Though, if you have enough dough, there is also the option for surrogacy. Like Tusshar Kapoor did some years back, as a single male parent.
